Somatic Meditative Inquiry

Somatic Meditative Inquiry

The things that bind us can actually be the source of liberation when we have the necessary skills.

Somatic Meditative Inquiry was developed by Cynthia and Mike Flowers, drawing on many years of study and practice in Eastern and Western  psychological, somatic, energetic and spiritual traditions.

Somatic Meditative Inquiry is an exploration of a basic reality that we all encounter. It addresses how we can creatively work with difficult emotions, troubling questions and physical pain.

Though we all encounter troubling emotions and physical discomfort, we don’t always work with them. More often we work on or against them. When we can explore our discomfort with openness with gentleness, we often find that it is an expression of an inherent health and a doorway to real transformation.

In Somatic Meditative Inquiry we learn skills that allow us to move closer to our discomfort. Whether we begin with our emotions, with troubling questions or physical pain, we learn to dip beneath the level of story and explanation to our direct, immediate experience in our body. When we do this in a soft, gentle, non-coercive and respectful way, we often find that even areas of chronic discomfort and suffering begin to loosen and open onto something unexpected, expansive and liberating.

This work is done in individual sessions or small groups. It is quiet, deep work in which one is guided into direct relationship with the sensory  intelligence of the  body.
